School-Based Tuition Assistance

Need-based grants, sibling discounts and payment plans at the school itself, usually the layer that covers what the tax credit leaves.

What should OKC families ask a school about aid?

Ask three things: whether the school is on the Tax Commission's participating list, what you would owe after the credit for your income tier, and how its own aid is recorded, since school discounts reduce the tuition the credit can cover.

Also ask when the school issues Enrollment Verification Numbers. Without one you cannot file for the tax credit, and the window opens March 15.
